Twitter has struck a deal with Elon Musk

giving the world's most extravagant man control of an informal community that has broad effect on governmental issues and society.

Musk will pay about $44 billion, or $54.20 a share

The agreement comes less than two weeks after Musk offered to buy Twitter,

sending the companys board and the executives into emergency mode as they mixed to sort out

whether Musk was serious and whether his offer fairly valued the company.

Musk has promised to open Twitter's true capacity by relaxing what he sees as out of line unfair restrictions on free speech..
